ANNETTE DODD 1937 – 2023 Mrs. Annette Marie Dodd passed away at St. Michael’s Health Centre on February 9, 2023. Born at the Galt Hospital in Lethbridge, Alberta on January 11, 1937, the second of Daniel and Hilda Daignault’s five children, she was married to George William (Bill) Dodd from 1959 until his passing in 2015. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Joyce Dodd (Carl Perry); son Geoffrey Dodd; brothers Lawrence and Jack (Heather) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her loving husband Bill, Annette was predeceased by her brother Art Daignault and her sister Jeanne Davis.
Annette’s early years were spent in Pincher Creek and Fort Macleod, as a teenager she worked as a waitress at the Greyhound Bus Depot in Fort Macleod. When she moved to Lethbridge, her first job was as a proofreader for the Lethbridge Herald; later she worked for many years at a Dairy Queen franchise.
An excellent cook, Annette loved to entertain, she frequently hosted luncheons for her friends and dinners for her large extended family. She was also very generous, surprising the people she loved with thoughtful gifts. She and her husband were antique collectors, of which she had an extensive collection of Asian artefacts and glassware. Her home and her garden were always immaculate, and even when she was working in the garden she was also well groomed.
She contributed to her spiritual home, St Patrick’s Church, by arranging the funeral luncheons there for many years until it closed in 2011. An avid gardener who grew many of her plants from seed, Annette’s colourful garden was often visited by members of the Lethbridge and District Horticultural Society.
She will be missed by her family and friends.
Cremation has been entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels.
