ISABELLE AGNES GRAY November 6, 1936 – March 10, 2024 In the stillness and calm of the early morning hours, Isabelle died peacefully.
Isabelle was born in Regina and grew up there with her brother and three sisters. She married the love of her life, William (Bill) Gray in 1956 and moved to Calgary. Eventually they moved to Lethbridge and together they raised four children. After Bill died in 2011, Isabelle moved back to Calgary. Fabric and thread contributed to the tapestry of Isabelle’s life: Isabelle had the creative spark of a sewer. She made everything from clothing to costumes, bedspreads to drapes, and everything in between. She took up quilting for the first time when she was in her eighties, making several beautiful full-sized quilts and smaller pieces. At the heart of how Isabelle lived were community and friendship. She was a vibrant volunteer, sharing not only a variety of skills, but her wonderful sense of humour and fun as well. In the process, she helped build community and bring people together. Isabelle was a beloved and dear friend. Isabelle will be forever loved and sadly missed by her children Bruce (Alison), Allison (Jay), and Caroline (Bob); two sisters Wilma and Ann; grandchildren Jaime, Tyler, Mikayla, Jasmine, and Adam; great grandchildren Caden and Zander; nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband Bill and son Paul, and by her brother Bruce and sister Margie. Isabelle’s family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and staff at both the Calgary Foothills Medical Centre, Unit 61, and Agape Hospice, for their compassionate care. The family will be holding a Celebration of Life in the coming months.
