ERWIN POHL 1937 – 2025 It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Erwin Pohl, who passed away at home at the age of 87 years.
Erwin is survived by his two sons Reinhard Pohl and Gary (Patricia) Pohl; three grandchildren Candice Pohl, Corey (Kelsey) Pohl and Logan Pohl (Allison Walker).
His four great grandchildren which he held dearly in his heart include Addy Pohl (11), Lyla Pohl (9), Jaxon Pohl (5) and Lukas Pohl (3). Erwin has three siblings all residing in Germany that include Ingrid Detscher, Elli (Horst) Ody and Gertrude Hirte with her sons Carsten Reidt, Stephan Reidt and Patrick Hirte.
Erwin was predeceased by his loving wife Ruth (March 6, 2020); his Mother Marta; as well as grandson Tyler and great grandson Mayson. Erwin was born in Treuhausen Germany, Bliesen District on June 3, 1937. Eighteen years later he immigrated to Canada and initially ended up in Edmonton where he worked in an Edmonton Hospital as a nursing assistant. A year later he moved to Lethbridge where he met his wife Ruth and two years later, they were married on August 30, 1958.
He was employed at St. Micheals Hospital in Lethbridge as a nursing assistant for 36 years.
Erwin enjoyed gardening with many varieties of flowers, fishing with his sons in the earlier years, local wildlife and nature in general. He enjoyed many events during the years at the German Canadian Club where he was a long-time member.
He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
A Viewing will be held at 7:00 pm, on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610, 4 STREET SOUTH, LETHBRIDGE, Alberta.
A Funeral Service will be held at 9:00 am, on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 20 ROCKY MOUNTAIN BLVD. W, Lethbridge, Alberta.
