SNIP March 23, 1947 – September 16, 2025 GERALD LAMBERTUS SNIP, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Rika Snip, father of Erika (Adam) Pappas, Martha (Jeremie) Boulianne and Maria (Nicholas) Castle, and grandfather to Cade and Adelaide Boulianne, and Samantha and Nathaniel Castle, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at the age of 78 years.
Gerald was a faithful Christian, an agricultural salesman, father, husband, and grandfather, who collected friends wherever he went. We will miss him deeply.
Gerald grew up in the Niagara peninsula as part of a large, loving, Dutch immigrant family. He came to Alberta in 1975 and fell in love with the West and all things western. He met his wife, Rika, on the day of his arrival, and he never looked back. His career allowed him to make many friends in the agricultural community, his church families became dear to him, and his three daughters and their families were the delight of his life.
Gerald will be laid to rest in ROYAL VIEW MEMORIAL CEMETERY, 5920 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 11:00 A.M.
A Memorial Service celebrating Gerald’s life will be held at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 20 Rocky Mountain Blvd. West, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 1:00 P.M., with Pastors Paul Van Stralen and Richard Brown officiating.

Gerald, the son of my mothers brother Klaas and his wife Matje. I think I only met him once, but a photo of oom Klaas and tante Matje and their children was on our mantelpiece in Stadskanaal, Holland. His sister Tena send the message of his passing, we are very sorry and wish you all the strength you need in this difficult time.
