I watched Alan grow up, he was five years younger and in our Magrath 2nd ward. Later he was my bishop as my children were growing up when we moved back to Magrath in 1973. Since we were in a variety of wards but usually the same one I saw them leave for many missions and was amazed at their resilience and wonderful dedication. They set us all such great examples. They were always involved in church service or civic responsibilities.
I remember one night they invited our family to their home for FHE and we went on sleds down the steep hill beside the house. Alan pushed me onto a sled and I got an unexpected joyride down the hill even though I was too old! Fun surprise.
After Patricia’s passing Jan also blessed his life and they just continued in service. What a blessing this family have been to Magrath and the church. We need lots more Alan Dudley’s in the world.
