Posted: April 30th, 2026

SANDER It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, LORRAINE THERESA SANDER, at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, April 27, 2026 at the age of 87.
Lorraine is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 64 years, Valentine; her seven children, Terry (Karen), Katherine (Casey), Kevin (Karen), Keith (Becky), Valerie (Roy), Dan (Michele), and Dean (Jenn); and her cherished grandchildren, Kris, Emily, Kevyn (Dylan), Hannah (Owen), Thomas, Bianca and Joseph.
She is also survived by her siblings, Richard (Celine, deceased) Reichert, Norbert (Carole) Reichert, Dolores Reichert, and Marianne Reichert; as well as her brothers-in-law, Mike (Marie, deceased), Joe (Helene, deceased), Peter (Kay, deceased), and Raymond (Helen).
Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Catherine Reichert; her brother, Ron Reichert; and her infant sister, Theresa. She was also predeceased by her in-laws, Anton and Regina Sander, and their children Lena, Jack (Denise), Mary Ann (Tony), and Len (Shirley).
Lorraine was born on July 8, 1938, in Macklin, Saskatchewan, and she grew up on the family farm. She cherished her rural upbringing, where her lifelong love of gardening first took root. From a young age, Lorraine had a passion for learning and declared at just five years old that she would become a teacher. After attending Teachers College in Saskatoon, she taught for several years in Wilkie, Saskatchewan, where she met her future husband, Val. They were married on July 8, 1961, and together raised seven children while farming in Saskatchewan and Montana before settling in Coaldale, Alberta.
Lorraine was a gentle woman of deep faith, kindness, and compassion. She was a devoted wife and mother who was a wonderful example to her children and grandchildren. Even throughout her illness and her struggle with dementia, she remained graceful, with a warm sense of humour and a gift for storytelling that will always be remembered.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff of Unit 3A, Unit 5A and doctors at Chinook Regional Hospital for their compassionate care.
