ELIZABETH “BETH” THORLACIUS 1929 ~ 2026 Elizabeth “Beth” Thorlacius, of Lethbridge, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the age of 97 years. It is with deep sadness that we grieve Beth’s passing, but we are comforted knowing that she is back with her soulmate, Jon.
Beth is predeceased by her husband Dr. Jon Thorlacius; parents Carl and Irma Pleier; siblings Walter, Julius, Hilda and son-in-law Richard Baker.
Beth is survived by her children Debbie Thorlacius, Brian (Teri) Thorlacius, Charlene (Raniero) Thorlacius, Darlene (Dennis) Setoguchi; grandchildren Lyndsay (Jordi), Ann (Josh), Jill (Rob), Macrae and her great-grandchildren Maia, Max, Teo and Emmeline.
Beth was born on February 19, 1929, in Humbolt, Saskatchewan. After high school Beth attended secretarial/business school and worked a variety of administrative jobs. She married Jon in 1951. They settled in Lethbridge and raised four children. Once her children were older, Beth obtained her real estate license and worked as a realtor.
Beth also loved participating in many different sports, and spending time with her grandchildren.
While Beth experienced a long journey with Alzheimer’s disease, she will always be remembered for her commitment to family, spirited sense of humour, and love and support for those around her. A special heartfelt thank you is extended to the wonderful staff at Fairmont Extendicare for their compassionate care of Beth.
A Celebration of Beth’s Life will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta.
For those who wish, memorial donations in Beth’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
