1932 ~ WIST ~ 2012

Mr. Ignatius “Nels” Wist, beloved husband of Mrs. Madeleine Wist of Medicine Hat, passed away on Thursday, October 4th, 2012 at the age of 80 years. Nels also leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Sharon (Don) Topliffe of Redcliff; two sons, Ken (Cindy) Wist and Ed (Amanda) Wist, both of Medicine Hat; seven grandchildren, Shawn (Cori) Topliffe, Stephanie (Mark) Schaerer, Nicole (Willis) Kolody and their children, Keegan and Zaide, Brady (Dana) Wist and their daughter, Sahara, Curtis (Rachel) Wist and their children, Aryssa and Lucas, Jason (Craig) Irwin and Kendra (Sebastian) Principe; four brothers, Jack (Ann), Val (Margaret), Adam (Bev) and Peter (VI); two sisters, Kay Besplug and Lorraine (Armand) Seguin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Nels was predeceased by his parents, Leon and Magdelina Wist. Nels was born on August 7th, 1932 in Leader, Saskatchewan. He married Madeleine Schlosser on August 16th, 1954. Nels loved music, dancing and fishing. He also had a fondness for gardening, camping and anything outdoors; he was a true outdoors man. But above all else, Nels loved his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren. Nels ranched for many years before his retirement. He will be forever remembered by all those who knew and loved him. The Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held in SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Tuesday, October 9th, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. A Private Family Funeral Service will take place. Memorial gifts in Nels’s memory may be made to a trust fund for his great- granddaughter, Aryssa Endicott for the purchase of an insulin pump, payable to: Trust Fund for Aryssa Endicott, #102, 1111 Kingsway Avenue SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 2Y1.
