Posted: November 2nd, 2012

William “Bill” Heller of Medicine Hat, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at the age of 99 years, beloved husband of the late Elsie Heller. He leaves to cherish his memory two children, Lloyd (Paulette) Heller of Walsh and Wayne (Katharine) Heller of Medicine Hat; four grandchildren, Mathew Heller (Marie-Louise Marceau Cotton), Stephanie Heller (David Green), Anne Heller (Lance Sundby) and Rosalyn Heller (Eric Smith); one great grandson, Ericson Smith; a brother-in-law, Ben (Erna) Schorr and sisters-in-law, Rachel Schorr and Wilma Heller as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth and John Heller; his wife Elsie on January 29, 2000; brothers, John and Otto; sisters, Emma Chambers, Mary Derheim and Edith Chambers. Dad loved to tell stories about growing up south of Walsh on the family farm. He was proud to be the pitcher for the Walsh baseball team. In the drought and depression during the 1930’s, he found work on farms near Brockett in the Alberta foothills. Mom and Dad married in 1940 and farmed and ranched in the Walsh area until they retired in 1980. While ranching, they often found time for sports like curling and lawn bowling as well as traveling and spending time with family and friends. Mom and Dad spent several winters in Arizona. In his latter years, Dad would take long daily walks and he spent much of his time gardening and preserving his vegetables. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Blaine Schaufele officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
