Winnie was born April 14, 1917 at home in Moosomin, Sask.
She was predeceased by two infant sons, her husband Geoffrey in 1976 and also her parents Charles and Nellie Woods of Moosomin, Sask., sister Tash McDougall and her husband Angus John; brother John Woods and his wife Cathy; brothers-in-law Dale and Brian Udal, sister and brother-in-law Nora and Bob Doonan; sister-in-law Lois Van Holland; nephew Brian Van Holland and son Jamie; niece Jane Udal.
Winnie is survived by four children: Beth Clark (Darryl) of Kelliher, Sask., their three daughters Tina Huber (Craig) of Lipton, Sask.; Erin Doshen (Dwight) of Battleford, Sask.; Rebecca Wessing (Trevor) of Kelliher, Sask. and Beth’s son Erik Smith (Jami) of Kansas City, USA; son Shannon Udal (Lily), his five children Johanna Zieffle (Darren) of Lacombe, Alta.; Timothy Udal (Suzanne) of Maple Creek; Matthew (Lindsay) of Maple Creek; Robert (Andrea) of Maple Creek; Sarah Heckbert (Adam) of Calgary; son Gerald Udal (Lynda) and their three children Daina Clark (Chris) of Maple Creek; Dale Udal (Fiona) of Maple Creek; Mark Udal (Kathleen) of Maple Creek; son Danny Udal (Heather) of Maple Creek and their four children Amy Gordon (Aaron) of Maple Creek; Chelsey Thomson (Cody) of Maple Creek; Brittany Udal of Medicine Hat, Alta. and Shelton Udal of Maple Creek. There are 16 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Winnie is also survived by two brothers Ralph Woods (Marilyn) and Andrew Woods (Eileen) of Moosomin, Sask.  and numerous nieces and nephews.
Winnie arrived in Maple Creek as an army nurse. She married Geoffrey Udal in 1948. After Geoffrey’s death she remained on the ranch until 1996 when she moved into town and remained in her own home until September 2011 when she entered the Cypress Lodge. Winnie passed away Dec. 9, 2012 at the age of 95 years.
The funeral service was held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Maple Creek, Sask. on Thurs., Dec. 13, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Fr. V. Amobi officiating. Interment took place at the Maple Creek Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Tim Udal, Mark Udal, Matthew Udal, Dale Udal, Robert Udal, Shelton Udal. Honorary pallbearers were all those who shared in Winnie’s life.

    So sorry to hear about Winnie…she will be missed. I grew up knowing her big smile and hearty laugh…that’s how I remember her. My sympathy to the Udal family!

    Sorry to hear that Winnie has passed. She did a great job raising all those kids, and put in a long shift. Rest in Peace Winnie.

    We were very sorry to hear about Winnie. She was a wonderful neighbour and ‘adopted grandmother’ to our kids. So nice that she was able to stay at home as long as she did. All the best to her large, loving family.
