1932 ~ WEIGEL ~ 2013

Joseph “Joe” Frank Weigel of Medicine Hat passed away on Wednesday, January 9th, 2013, just short of his 81st birthday. He is survived by his wife, Bessie; son, Craig and his children, Theoren and Nolan; daughter, Dawn (Mike) Schlenker and their children, Gina and Camille; one sister, Marlene Evers of Brooks; one brother-in-law, Herb (Margaret) Barnes of Redcliff; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Rachel; sisters, Theresa Deary and Rose (Jim) Lannan; brother-in-law, John Evers; and daughter-in-law, Karla Weigel. Joe was born on January 19th, 1932 on a farm near Richmound, Saskatchewan where he attended school until Grade 10. He then farmed with his father and worked various jobs until moving to Medicine Hat in 1958 to apprentice for a refrigeration and heating company. It was here that Joe met Bessie Barnes and they married June 30th, 1962. In 1965, he opened C & D Heating which he sold in 1982 and returned to farming. Joe enjoyed travelling, wood work, playing cards and especially fishing and fish stories. The Funeral Service will be held in SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Monday, January 14th, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. with Deacon Bill Schnitzler officiating. A Private Family Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in the spring. Memorial gifts in Joseph’s memory may be made to A.J.’s Loan Cupboard, P.O.
