GETZ

Katherine Margaret Getz, beloved wife of John R. Getz passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2013. Kay was the loving and devoted mother to her five children, Doug (Carol Ann), Randy (Glenys), Wayne, Glenn (Carol) and Michelle; grandmother to Corina (Todd) Peters, Colette (Gary) Benoit, Colton Getz, Krysten (Tony) Dies, Brennon (Chantel) Getz, Kyle Getz, Megan Getz (Matt), Tanisha Getz, Lyndsey Maben; great grandmother to, Tristan and Teagan Dies, Adaiah Peters, Aiden Benoit, Izzy Maben and Bria Getz. She also leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Tony (Margaret) Bitz. Kay was predeceased by her parents, John and Genevieve Bitz; her siblings, Frank, Florence, Clem, Margaret, George, Mike, Ronald and Edmond. Katherine was born in Holdfast, Saskatchewan on September 14, 1925. In 1951, she married John, her life long partner of 61 years. Together they raised five children on the family farm at Brock, Saskatchewan from 1952 retiring to Medicine Hat in 1977. They resided here for 18 years before moving to an acreage outside of Seven Persons and eventually to the Bow Island Health Centre. Katherine was active in her church and was a proud member of the C.W.L. for over 50 years. Being the loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother that she was, she had great pride in and was devoted to all of her family, who will sadly miss her. Kay will also be missed by her friends and caregivers at the Bow Island Health Centre. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Friday evening from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:00 – 9:55 a.m. Family and friends will gather for prayers in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in the Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Matthew Emmelkamp and Fr. Fred Monk concelebrants. Interment willfollow in the Hillside Cemetery.
