WENZ

John Wenz of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at the age of 96 years. He leaves to cherish his memory one brother, Alvin (Valerie) Wenz of Medicine Hat; his nieces and nephews, Dolores (Floyd) Ronan, Pam Smith (Mario Lettier), Brenda (Rob) Inkster, Stewart May, Dalyce (Robert) Armstrong, Gwen Geigle, Cheryl Wenz, Dorothy May and Don (Barb) Schmidt. He was predeceased by his parents, Magdalena and Jacob Wenz; two brothers, Jacob in infancy, and Clarence on December 30, 2008; four sisters, Martha Saklofsky, Otella May, Elma Geigle and Alice May; one nephew, Ken May and a niece, Sheila Schmidt. John was born on September 28, 1916 on the family farm near Sandy Point. He and his brothers Clarence and Alvin took over the family farm and together continued to farm and ranch until retirement in the early 1990’s. At that time their nephew Ken May took over and following his passing their great nephew Greg May continued the farming tradition. Two years ago the Wenz family received a 100 year plaque from the provincial government for continuously maintaining the family farm for 100 years. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Shane P. Andrus officiating. Private family interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.     Dear Uncle Alvin, Sister Dolores, Cousin Dalyce, and Wenz family relatives,

    I am so sad to hear of Uncle Johnnie´s passing. Please accept my deepest heartfelt sympathy.

    Although I live far away, I always kept Uncle Johnnie in my thoughts and prayers.

    Now this dear old cowboy joins his beloved brother Clarence; sisters Martha, Tillie, Elma and Alice; his parents Jacob and Maggie; and other dearly departed relatives and friends `up at the heavenly homestead´.
