SUSTRATE

Posted: January 22nd, 2013

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ursula Sustrate on January 18, 2013, at the age of 81 years. Ursula is survived by her husband Friedrich of 59 years, sons Frank (Tracey), Udo (Marilyn Krause), Klaus (Monica), Ed (Maria), and daughter Conny; grandchildren Joe, Jenni, Tony Krause, Adam, Devin, and Colten; great grandchild Clayton; relatives in Germany, Marga, Erich, Elsa and Gisela; Hilde in the USA and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Germany, Ursula and Friedrich moved to Canada to start their new life together. She taught herself the English language by reading the newspaper, watching TV, and listening to the radio. She wanted her children to know the German language so she spoke only German to them. Her family was her life. She enjoyed family gatherings for which she did all the cooking and baking. The food was always delicious, the music was always playing and she was always dancing. Ursula liked to socialize; she could talk to anyone and bring a smile to their face. Ursula lost her battle with cancer with her family by her side. She will be deeply missed. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, from 9:00 – 12:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Julianna Wehrfritz-Hanson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
