Ronald James Carlson beloved husband and best friend of Joyce Louise Carlson passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital at the age of 72 years.  He was born in Medicine Hat and grew up on the family farm and  attended Conquerville School.  He married the love of his life, Joyce Poole, on July 12, 1986 on the Carlson family farm.  Ron was a natural farmer and started working on the farm at a very young age.  His happy and friendly disposition was relished by his  family and  many trust worthy friends.  Ron trusted everyone and shared his love for them.  He enjoyed all sports and shared in family activities especially fishing, shooting pool, golf and wood carving.  Together Ron & Joyce enjoyed vacationing in their motorhome travelling to Texas, Arizona, California and places across Canada.  One of the most memorable occasions was their first time cruise through the Panama Canal in 2010;  celebrating their 25th Wedding Anniversary in 2011 and a trip to Hawaii with grandson, Corbin in August 2012.  Ronald’s memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of his wife, Joyce;  children, Richard (Michele) and their children, Tiffany & Colton;  Dan (Lisa) and their children, Kaitlyn & Brittany;  Laurie (Brian) Helmers and their children, Ruby & Jade;  step-son, Jordan (Kandy) Sandford and their children, Cara, Doug & Keith;  step-daughter, Tracey (Eric) Chenger and their son, Corbin;  brother, Gerald (Lorrette) of Kelowna, B.C. and sister, Darlene (Bob) Sturgeon of High Level, AB., as well as four precious great-grandchildren, Hannah, Jackson, Evan & Ashley all of Ontario;  a special Aunt Ila Southerton as well as many cousins, neices and nephews.  Ron was predeceased by his parents, Walter & Ora Carlson;  aunts & uncles, Ruby Broostrom, Cledythe (Bill) Calder, Nyall (Edna) Southerton- Williams, Carl Southerton, Beryl (Melvin) Shannon, Phyllis (Oliver) Nerland.  A celebration of Ron’s life will take place this summer on the family farm on Saturday, June 29, 2013.
