CYGANIK

Wanda Frances Cyganik of Medicine Hat, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at the age of 88 years, beloved wife of the late Stephen Cyganik. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Jan Cyganik (Caroline Spencer) of Rossington, Alberta, Paul Cyganik of Calgary and Aurora “Mandy” Cyganik-Barker (Ben Gergley) of Medicine Hat; four grandchildren, Dustin Cyganik of Edmonton, Chelsea (Blayne) Higgs and Cole Cyganik-Barker all of Medicine Hat and Jasmine Warner of Rossington, Alberta; two great grandchildren, Kade and Clara Higgs; one brother, John (Mary) Orchowski of Edmonton and one sister, Lil (Kaz) Manchur of Winnipeg as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Walter Orchowski; her husband Stephen on May 27, 2009; one daughter, Karen and one brother, Richie. Wanda was born in Lublin, Poland on April 11, 1924 and immigrated to Canada with her brothers and sister. She spent her childhood on a farmstead near Fisher Branch, Manitoba and then met her future husband in Winnipeg. During WWII, Wanda supported our troops by sewing uniforms. After marrying Stephen, they moved to CFB Suffield where she worked for nearly a decade for the government. Wanda enjoyed entertaining, sewing and gardening. She and Stephen enjoyed fishing and visiting lakes and reservoirs all around this area. She enjoyed the local birds and wildlife, and had a soft sport for animals and pets. Wanda went to join Stephen surrounded by loving family. As a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, she will be missed dearly. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday evening from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 12:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Thursday,January 31, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Deacon Bill Schnitzler officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
