1930 ~ SCHORR ~ 2013

Posted: February 11th, 2013

Ernest Schorr went to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family Thursday, February 7th, 2013 at the age of 82 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Shirley; three children–Henry (Gwen) Schorr, Annette (Jack) Simons, Michelle (Frank) Devine; nine grandchildren– Matthew (Arian), Jonathan (Kristin), Joshua (Amanda) & Michael (Becky) Schorr, Amber (Shawn) Smith, Ashley (Grayson) Smith, Frank (Amber) Devine, Micheleen (Michael) Shagin, Julie Devine and eight great grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish two step children Kimberly (Don) Cocks, Karen (Rob) Stolz; five step grandchildren–Carl (Dee), Joel & Jordan Cocks, Troy & Dylan Stolz.
Ernest was born in Sofiewka, Bessarabia, Romania on September 23, 1930. As a young man, he trained to be a Master Cabinet Maker and then moved to Canada to seek a better life in the land of opportunity. His work as a gifted cabinet maker was soon in high demand and in time he started his own General Construction business building hundreds of beautiful homes in Medicine Hat and area.
He loved sports. As a young man he played high level soccer and later in life he enjoyed playing golf. After moving to Canada, he developed a love for hockey and was an avid fan not only of his favorite teams but the sports endeavors of his children and grandchildren.
He had a wonderful sense of humor and had many friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his friends over coffee and volunteering at the Prairie Gleaners. He had a tender heart for God & attended church regularly. Over the years, he inspired many others spiritually and to achieve their God-given potential. He was tireless in his devotion and service to his family and he will be greatly missed. We thank God for his life and that he is now with Jesus in that place where ‘there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain’ (Rev 21:4)
Special thanks to Dr. Nunweiler and the staff on 2 North, for the special care they provided for Ernest and the emotional support for his wife and family.
