Mrs. Marion Doreen McNeill of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Mr. Don McNeill, passed away on Wednesday, February 13th, 2013 at the age of 85 years. Marion leaves to cherish her memory four children, Stan (Glenna) of Empress, Patti (Peter) Wilson of Powell River, British Columbia, Grant (Benita) of Outlook, Saskatchewan, and Sherry (Ernst) Jensen of Empress; ten grandchildren, Gina (Mike), Devin (Danielle), Malcolm (Nicole) and her children Cash and Carter, Alexis, Charlie, Jordan (Justin) and her son Kohen, Erin, Mackenzie, Jette-Marie (Chris), and Kirsten; three sisters, Irene Williams, Lorna Mueller, and Verna McNeill; her special niece, Judy (Al) and family; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Marion was predeceased by her husband, Don; her parents, Arthur and Amma Hoover; and two brothers, Cecil (Charlotte) Hoover and Howard Hoover. Marion was born in Drumheller on August 22nd, 1927. She was raised in Delia, Alberta, where she met Don McNeill and they were married on November 17th, 1948. They then moved to Bindloss where Marion enjoyed the farming lifestyle. In 1985 they moved to Medicine Hat and met many new friends. She was Constituency Convenor for A.W.I., was a member of the Eastern Star, the Red Hat Ladies, and the United Church. Marion loved going to conferences, learning new things, meeting people, gardening, and travelling. She was a teacher of both children and adults and passed her love of sewing and handiwork on to both of her daughters. Her door was always open to family and friends with whom she enjoyed playing cards, laughing and telling jokes. Marion will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. The Funeral Service will be held in WESTMINSTER UNITED CHURCH, 101 – 6th Street SE, on Monday, February 18th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Shane P. Andrus and Reverend LeRoy Angle co-officiating. Interment will take place in the Family Plot at Hillside Cemetery.
