1936 ~ 2013
John Vincent (Vince) Kurtz, beloved husband of Evelyn Kurtz, passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the age of 76 years.  Along with Evelyn, his loving wife of over 47 years, Vince leaves to cherish his memory:  three daughters, Dawna (Garry) Smith of Mendham, SK., Darla (Trevor) Fauth and their boys Travis, Ryan and Dylan all of Medicine Hat, Danette (Fritz) Lecuyer of Medicine Hat.  He is also survived by one sister, Barbara (Pete) Bonogofski of Medicine Hat;  two brothers-in-law, Fred Thompson of Drayton Valley and Gavin (Barbara) Davidson of Calgary as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Magdalena;  two brothers, Jack and Ed as well as one sister, Mary Thompson.  Vince was born in Empress, Alberta on October 3, 1936, to proud parents, Lawrence and Magdalena Kurtz.  He received his education while attending various schools in the Linacre area.  After leaving home, Vince worked a number of years in Steel Construction both in British Columbia and Alberta.  On May 15, 1965, he married Evelyn Davidson.  In 1968, they moved back to the Davidson Homestead in Mendham, SK. where he took much pride in working his land and tending his cattle until retiring to Medicine Hat in 1997.  Vince made the most of each day!  He enjoyed time spent with his family, visiting with the neighbours, watching hockey, woodworking, fishing and visits with the others down at Coffee Row.  Vince and Evelyn made some wonderful memories together travelling to the Caribbean and the Maritimes before his ill health made it necessary for him to move to South Country Village.  The care he received was wonderful, and the family are truly grateful for the compassion shown to him while there.  At Vince’s request, a Private Graveside Service will be held at a later date.  (Condolences may be expressed by visiting www.cook southland.com)  Honoured to serve the family is COOK SOUTHLAND Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 4V4.  Telephone:  403-527-6455.
