1926 ~ COPEMAN ~ 2013

Mr. Thomas “George” Copeman, beloved husband of Mrs. Yvonne Copeman of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, March 24th, 2013 at the age of 86 years. George leaves to cherish his memory five children, Dennis (Wendy) Copeman, George Jr. (Judy) Copeman, Irene (Ken) Brimble, Marion Maser, and Jeffrey (Ida) Copeman; seven step-children, Al (Chris) Beck, Michel Beck, Monique (Louie) Frankow, Tony Beck, Pete Beck, Helene (Chris) Nicholson, and Gerald Beck; twenty-eight grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. George was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Lilian Copeman; two sons, Gerald and Robert; and two brothers, Alfred and Bill. George was born on December 1st, 1926 in Caerphilly and was enlisted with the Navy from 1942 to 1946. He worked in a coal mine in South Wales for 21 years before returning to Canada in 1967. George also worked in the hotel and restaurant business. For 35 years, he was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge and was a lifelong member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He loved sports, especially hockey, and he also truly enjoyed camping, donating and volunteering at Golden Sheaf Park. George loved his family and was especially fond of his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He will be lovingly remembered by all. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL on Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 12:00 to 12:55 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Thursday, March 28th, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Gary W. Goran officiating. Interment will follow in the Field of Honor at Hillside Cemetery. The Officers and Members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Robertson Memorial Branch #17, will conduct a Poppy Service for their departed comrade. Memorial gifts in George’s memory may be made to the Margery E. Yuill Cancer Centre, 666 – 5th Street SW, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 4H6.
