RIES

Rosina “Rose” Ries of Medicine Hat passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013, at the age of 95 years, beloved wife of the late Joe Ries. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Marie Weiss, Tony (Gwen) Ries, Bernice Fitterer, Margaret Coderre, Marlene (George) Bosch, Bernadette (Bruce) Krutzler, Isabel Ries (Ian Van Wert) and Dwayne (Angela) Ries; her daughter-in-law, Alice Ries; twenty grandchildren; thirty seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. Rose lived a very long and wonderful life filled with family and friends. From her humble beginnings on the farm in Saskatchewan, she raised her eleven children with her beloved Joe for many years before they moved their family into Medicine Hat. She was a homemaker who lived to fill her house with friends and loved ones, making every person feel welcome the moment they walked through the door. Family gatherings were huge but Rose saw them as a blessing. Friends and family were always treated to her amazing cooking and unfailing hospitality. When she wasn’t busy entertaining, Rose loved to do all kinds of crafts, and was more often than not found sitting with a crochet needle in hand, making a beautiful gift for some lucky recipient. She was such a giver. Rose adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was always ready with hugs and kisses. Family was truly everything to her, as was her faith. A very devout Catholic, Rose lived her life by His word and knew that on this day, God would be waiting to welcome her into His Kingdom. She found happiness in every day, living 50 beautiful years with her beloved Joe. Theirs is a true love story, and what a perfect ending that she died March 25, exactly 25 years to the day that she lost her soul mate. We know that they are finally together again. Rose will be sadly missed and forever loved. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and John Werth; her husband, Joe on March 25, 1988; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joseph (Bonnie) and Gordon; one daughter, Josephine Ries; three sons-in-law, Ron Weiss, Hank Fitterer and Gary Coderre and numerous brothers and sisters. In lieu of having prayers, the family asks that as you celebrate Christ on Easter Sunday you take a moment to honor Rose with prayer and remembrance. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Sunday evening, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 9:30 – 10:25 a.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Monday, April 1, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr.
