KAMBEITZ

Posted: April 9th, 2013

Theresa Kambeitz was called into eternal life on April 6, 2013 at Meadowlands Retirement Home in Medicine Hat, at the age of 100 years and seven months. Daughter of George and Elizabeth (Rieger) Klein, Theresa was born on Sept. 18, 1912 in Regina, SK, the third of nine children.  The following year the family homesteaded south of Leader, SK near Krupp Post Office.  Theresa attended Neufeld School where she excelled in her studies. In 1932 she married Frank Kambeitz and together they raised nine children, mainly in the village of Richmound where the couple lived for 53 happy years.  Her life was a life of loving service within her family, her church and her community. In addition to her love of family and friends, Theresa loved reading, curling, gardening, singing in the choir and entertaining guests.  After their children were grown up, Theresa and Frank took travels to Europe, Israel, Hawaii, the East and West coasts of Canada and several U.S. states.   A woman of deep faith, she watched Daily Mass on TV in her later years. Her children are most grateful to Doctor Jeraj as well as to the staff at Meadowlands Home for the care and compassion extended to Theresa during her sunset years.  Left to cherish her memory are her nine children: Josephine (Bill) Stodalka, Ben (Pamela), Rosemarie/Sister Teresita, George (Jean), Carol Sproul, Dolores Stodalka (Ken Reynolds), Jerry (Agneta), Peter (Lynda) Sereda and Audrey (Keith) Eslinger;  37 grandchildren, 28 great- grandchildren; one brother George (Josephine) Klein, one sister Anne (Joe) Cox, and one sister-in-law Kati Klein.  She was predeceased by her husband Frank (2005); her mother (1937), her father (1951), two sisters Julia (Ben) Hicke and Margaret (Wendel) Laturnus and four brothers Ben (Elizabeth), Lin, Tony (Rose) and Father Kasper, OMI; all her Kambeitz in-laws; son-in-law Don Stodalka (2000) and grandchildren Paul (1990) and Susan (1958) Stodalka. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any organization dedicated to the aid of needy children. A Vigil of Prayer will be held on Wednesday, April 10th, 2013 at Pattison Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 11th, 2013 at Holy Family Church, 1451 Strachan Road S.E., at 10:30 a.m. To e-mail an expression of sympathy, please direct it to: pattfh@telusplanet.net subject heading: Theresa Kambeitz, or you may visit www.gonebutnotforgotten.ca and leave a message of condolence.
