HEARN

Myrtle Maisie Hearn peacefully passed away at the Sunny South Lodge in Coaldale on April 11th, 2013 at the age of 84.  Myrt was born, raised and lived all her life on the prairies of Southern Alberta. She is remembered by her four children, Bryan (Annalee) Hearn, Joan (Gary) King, Sheila Boisvert and Bradley (Shelley) Hearn; her sister Violet Mueller; nephews Doug and Floyd Mueller; seven grandchildren Bill (Cassy) Hearn, Kim (Terry) Katerenchuck, Nadine (Matthew) Deweert, Marsha (Jonathan) Wagenaar, Darla (Tom) Soetaert, Falon (Ryan) Cooke, and Dane Hearn; thirteen great grandchildren Rodney and Jackson Hearn, Leslie and Jayme Katerenchuck, Joel and Daniel Deweert, Davin and Macy Dortch, Cohen and Aliya Soetaert, Sam, Ben, Maelle Cooke; twp step granddaughters Laura Burton and Jana Wheeler and five step-great grandchildren, Sophie Burton, Ethan, Noah, Zack and Hannah Wagenaar. She was predeceased by her parents, Orley and Edith Iredale; her husband James, sons-in-law Bruce Stappler and Ron Boisvert, one sister Shirley Maxwell, grandson Kenneth Hearn and her step granddaughter Jill Boisvert. Myrt married the man of her dreams Jim on May 23,1949.  She loved the Etzikom farm life and raising her 4 children.  Her delicious homemade bread, hamburger soup, lemon pie, and mincemeat squares were special requests by her family.  Myrt loved entertaining, playing cards, reading and puzzles. She spent 13 years nursing her husband after he had a stroke.  In 1984, Myrt moved to Medicine Hat.  She adapted well to city life and loved Tiger Hockey games, new friends, her home and family.  Her family and Grandkids looked forward to the weekends they stayed at Grandma Myrt’s.  In August 2008 Myrt broke her hip; she then moved to The View in Lethbridge in October.  Her health declined during the past 4 years and life wasn’t sweet. Myrt was fortunate to celebrate her 80th Birthday in Palm Desert, California with her children, and friends.  She enjoyed being Queen for a day including a day of pampering, and a banquet complete with speeches and entertainment to celebrate her life! The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. with Fr. Matthew Emmelkamp officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.     My deepest sympathy to you in the loss of your mother, grandmother. I was her neighbour in MH – across the street. She was just the nicest lady one could have for a neighbour. Always a smile on her face, and glad to have a chat. I will always remember her with fond memories.
