1946 ~ DURNFORD ~ 2013

Mrs. Margaret Edith Durnford, beloved wife of Mr. Tony Durnford of Medicine Hat, passed away on Saturday, April 20th, 2013 at the age of 66 years. Margaret also leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Judy (Greg Arnold), Suzanne (Ron) Kennedy, and Adrienne (Mike) Dorn, all of Medicine Hat; six grandchildren, Alicia, Shalene, Amber, Tori, Shianne, and Tyler; three great-grandchildren, Damian, Monique and Tavin; five brothers, Al (Cammy), Jim (Elizabeth), Vince (Susan), Matt (Bette), and Allison (Mary) Warren; two sisters, Dora (Bert) Cluett and Betty (Rick) McDonald; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Garland and Mary Warren; one grandson, Braden Dorn; and her mother and father-in-law, Ben and Hazel Durnford. Margaret was born on July 7th, 1946 in Ramea, Newfoundland where she was raised and educated. After high school she moved to St. John’s, Newfoundland and studied to be a nursing assistant. Later, Margaret returned to her home town and married her childhood friend, Tony Durnford on March 17th, 1967. She then worked as the assistant Post Master. Keeping her close-knit family together, Margaret and Tony moved to Medicine Hat in February of 2000 to be with their three girls and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, camping, fishing, knitting, reading and going on lunch dates with her friends. Margaret especially loved visits from her children and grandchildren….she always put her family’s needs before her own. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL on Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Vigil Rites (prayers) will be said at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in ST. PATRICK’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 238 – 2nd Avenue NE, on Wednesday, April 24th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Father Long Vu, celebrant. Interment will follow at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery. Radio funeral announcement can be heard on Tuesday around 12:35 p.m. on 93.7 Praise FM.
