BACHMEIER

Posted: May 9th, 2013

After a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, Elmer J. Bachmeier passed away on Monday, May 6, 2013, at the age of 69 years, beloved husband of Ann Bachmeier of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Roxanne (Vance) Hauck and Tracey Bachmeier (Jason Christmann) all of Medicine Hat; three grandchildren, Brianne (Tyson) Anderson, Matthew Hauck (Avari Davidson) and Chance Christmann; two grandpuppies Yager and Gibson; one brother, Leroy “Richard” (Pat) Bachmeier of Medicine Hat; two sisters, Eileen (Henry) Stoesz and Della (Ralph) Kurtz all of Medicine Hat; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Mary Bachmeier. Elmer was born July 30, 1943 and grew up in the Prelate, Saskatchewan area before moving to Medicine Hat as a teenager. He worked many jobs before settling into a career of “driving” for a living. Elmer logged many a mile as a Truck Driver hauling mobile homes around the country for many years with mom by his side on many trips. He then took his driving knowledge and experience and was employed by the City of Medicine Hat Transit Department as a Bus Driver for 30 years while making many a friend along the way with each mile driven. Due to illness Elmer retired. Dad’s pride and joy was watching his 1963 Ford Galaxy 500 XL come to life right before his eyes. He finally had a classic car of his very own which was a lifelong dream of his. Dad, mom and their car “MY BLU” could be seen driving all around town on those nice summer days and evenings. He loved his car. Elmer had a love of “Older Country Music” listening to George Jones, Merle Haggard and Conway Twitty to name a few, right up to his passing. Dad enjoyed his grandchildren, they always put a smile on his face. If he could help them with something or keep them out of trouble he did. He was always there for them and they all knew that.
