WALTER

Arthur “Art” Arnold Walter passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at the age of 56 years, beloved husband of Evelyn Walter of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Kelsey, and a son, Nolan, both of Medicine Hat; sister-in-law, Lynne Walter (Doug), a nephew, Daniel (Debbie) Walter (their child Aya), a niece, Angela Walter (her children, Drew and Riley); cousins, Ron (Joyce) Walter and Ken Walter (Vernice) and their families. He is also survived by Evelyn’s family, Syd (Yvonne) McGillivray, Carolyn (Glen) Presley, and Lyle (Betty) McGillivray, and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Amanda and Emil Walter and one brother, Leo Walter. Art grew up on the family farm near Jenner, Alberta, and moved to Medicine Hat where he attended Alexandra Junior High School and graduated from Medicine Hat High School in 1975. He was an avid Scout leader and Moose Member. Art loved camping, a wide variety of music, and the Toronto Maple Leafs. After graduating from high school, Art worked in the oil field industry for Halliburton and Nowsco. He changed career paths and became a cement truck driver for different concrete companies, with many years being spent at Burnco and Lafarge. At the age of fifty, Art made a career change and graduated with his Journeyman Electrician Certificate. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12:00 – 12:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Cypress Hills Park Bench Program to erect a bench in Art’s memory.
