MARGARET MARY ARCHIBALD

Margaret (Peggy) Archibald died peacefully in Medicine Hat on Monday, May 20, 2013. She was 86 years old. Daughter of James P Cullinane of Waterford, Ireland and Katherine Cullinane of Kilkenny, Ireland, Peggy was born in Rossland, B.C. and was the youngest in a family of 9.  She was predeceased by Roy, her husband of 57 years in 2010. She is survived by her brother, Edward Cullinane and loving children, Leslie (Paul) and Donald (Catherine).  She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, Brendan, Sam, Bruce, and Maggie as well as Scott and Kevin Chapman. She is also survived by her nieces, Marilyn Hitch of Victoria, Anne Ptucha of Vancouver and Elaine Piccolo of Trail.  Peggy moved from B.C. to Medicine Hat in 1956, to start a family and a new life with Roy. She enjoyed her life in Medicine Hat, was an active member of the community, involved in volunteer activities including an active member of the CWL for over 50 years, the Rotary Music Festival and many others. She was proud of her Irish heritage. Peggy demonstrated her belief in the importance of friends by being a good friend and she had many friends. She loved keeping in touch with friends, loved her bridge groups and bridge friends but more than anything she was devoted to her family. Mom was eager to follow their activities and was happy to provide her advice and guidance, no matter what the situation. Mom possessed great spirit, full of energy and opinions and it will be that spirit that will be a lasting legacy to her family and friends.  Vigil Prayers will be recited at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Sunday, May 26, 2013, at 7:00 P.M. with a time of visitation to follow until 9:00 P.M.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 238 – 2nd Avenue N.E., Medicine Hat on Monday, May 27, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. with the Very Reverend Father Long Vu Celebrant.
