FRISCH

Posted: May 29th, 2013

Alice Frisch passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013, at the age of 86 years, beloved wife of Victor “Vic” Frisch of Medicine Hat. She also leaves to cherish her memory her children, Paulette McClelland (Rodger McKinnon) and Donna (Ken) McLay; four grandchildren, Brent (Joanie) and their children Emma and Cameron, Lindsay (Jeff) and their children Kolbi, Karmyn and Kabri, Michael (Tanis) and Tracy (Ryan). She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and August March; her brothers, Ludwig, Gottlieb, August and William March and her sisters, Rosie Levie, Martha Derheim, Mary Reuer and Carrie Joyce. Alice was born in Hilda on January 1, 1927 (she was actually born in a barn, as their house wasn’t yet built). Alice (mom) worked at the glass factory, Medalta Pottery and hospital at a very young age. She married her first love in life, Vic, on June 6, 1947. They moved to Oyen and started their farming life together in 1949. Mom (Alice) was always dad’s (Vic) right had man – helping with all the numerous jobs on the farm. For 20 years, they drove back and forth from Medicine Hat to Oyen. In 1995, they sold the farm and moved permanently to Medicine Hat. She loved to garden and had lots of flowers and vegetables with lots to share with everyone. Alice loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and always made sure everyone had lots to eat. We all looked forward to her knephla and sauerkraut – the last of which we had two weeks before her passing. She loved going on fishing trips with dad (Vic) and the numerous friends and relatives they associated with. Alice was a very energetic, busy woman. In earlier years, she loved to sew and make hundreds of afghans for all her family to enjoy. She loved to dress “like a lady” including high heels and dresses and her hair was always done to perfection. Alice’s main concern in the last two years was looking after dad after he had a stroke. She vowed to do it as long she could – and true to her word – she did! Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. with David Townsend, Life Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Aunt Alice was an inspiration to me ever since I was a little girl. She always looked so well coordinated and up to date. She was a strong woman who could accomplish so much in a short time. A woman devoted to her husband and family. Above all she was so very kind to me and I always knew she loved me. She will be missed by many. Rest in peace my dear Aunt Alice.
