Emmelia was born at Walsh, Alberta on February 7, 1926. She lived most of her life in Redcliff (1953 – 2002). For the last ten years, Emmelia resided at South Country Village. She worked hard all of her life and spent many years working with pottery, first at Medalta Pottery (Medicine Hat), then at Sunburst Ceramics, Alberta Pottery and Medalta Pottery 1966 Ltd (Redcliff). She ended her working career after 20 years in housekeeping at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Emmelia accepted the Lord as her Saviour in 1994 and was an active member of First Assembly of God Church. She lived for her family and loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren unconditionally. She was a kind, generous, and selfless woman who was always giving to others. Emmelia loved to cook and we especially remember the knipfla, strudels, and kuchen. Her daughters and granddaughters have fond memories of helping mom/grandma in the kitchen. Emmelia had a great memory and never forgot birthdays, anniversaries, or other important dates. She also loved to watch hockey or other sportsespecially when played by her family. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Sunnyside Nursing Home for their excellent care over the years, and especially Jose and Gail who were with her in her final hours.
