DEB PHILLIPS

With heavy hearts the family of Margaret Debra (Deb) Phillips announce her peaceful passing at the Carmel Hospice, St. Joseph’s Home in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at the age of 61 years.  Deb was born December 23, 1951 in Almonte, Ontario, a daughter to proud parents, Joseph and Margaret  Phillips.  She grew up with her family in Almonte where she also received her schooling.  Deb later attended the University of Lethbridge and earned a BA Degree in History.  History was a subject that intrigued her so naturally she developed an interest in genealogy.  She dedicated her life to researching family history and was quite involved with the LDS Church genealogy and the Medicine Hat Genealogy Society and was a Past-President.  Deb served her church in many capacities and was active in the Relief Society.  She was good with her hands and had a talent for quilting and cross-stich and enjoyed to see her quilts go to less fortunate countries.  Deb also liked to travel and experienced teaching in Korea and ventured with her sister to Britain.  Deb was a devoted lady to her church and her family and will be deeply missed by her sisters, Evelyn May Park and Beatrice June (L. Kay) Bone;  a brother, John Charles Ried Phillips;  a nephew, Gordon Bruce (Marlene Ivy) Bone;  nieces, Wendy June (Alen) Lutes and their family, Travis and Stacey;  Karen (Ronald) Ring and their family, Tyler and Haylie.  She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Margaret Phillips and a brother in infancy, David.  The Funeral Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1865 Division Ave., N.E., Medicine Hat on Friday, June 14, 2013, at 10:00 A.M. with Bishop George Schow conducting.  Interment will take place at the Rosemary Cemetery, Rosemary, Alberta.
