WILLIAM BILL HENRY GOWER

Posted: June 21st, 2013

May 2, 1948 – June 19, 2013
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, William “Bill” Gower. He was surrounded by his family during his short battle with cancer. He is survived by three daughters, Michelle (Jerry) Hintz, Lisa (Gary) Bray and Kathleen (Mark) Udal; seven grandchildren, Courtney (Nolan) Hintz, Colton (Courtney) Hintz, Logan, Spencer and Kennedy Udal, Tristan and Griffin Bray; one great grandchild, Kloee Hintz; two brothers, Ron (Doreen) Gower and Jerry Gower; one sister, Terry (Don) Streeter as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Alex in 1978; his mother, Burnetta in 2002 and an infant brother. Dad had a zest for life, a great sense of humor, a love for his pets, King, Misty and JC and millions of memories. He was always telling his girls stories of family, friends and his adventures. Bill spent time as a young man in the army and later transferred to the air force as a photo tech. After leaving the service, he worked numerous jobs until starting a career at the Alberta Breweries Association (ABA). Dad gave each of us special memories but most are of Dad’s love of golf and music. Summers were spent at the golf course or watching it on TV. He was always listening to music, singing an oldie or watching Top Gun with his nephew Jamie. Bill will be greatly missed and treasured by all those whose lives he touched. Hearing certain songs or watching golf will always bring a smile and a memory or two. A private interment will take place. Family and friends are invited to share this day with Bill’s family at a memorial and come and go lunch to be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, 702 – 2 St. SE. A special thank you to Dr. Pasternak and all the nurses and staff atthe Carmel Hospice for the loving care they provided our dad.
