HUGHES – Grant

Our father, grandfather and friend Grant Hughes, born April 24, 1947, found peace on the morning of July 15, 2013.

Grant (“Big Red”) is survived by Delia, his wife of 43 years, his son Clinton Hughes (Ross Hodgson), daughter Alison Clarkson and three grandchildren; Boe, Brett and Trewin. He is also survived by his mother Veronica Moore of Moose Jaw, Sask. and sister Dawn Young (John) and brothers and sisters-in-law Stan and Alice Sehn, Peter and Delorse Sehn, Ernie and Joanna Sehn, Kathy Sehn, Fred and Grace Sehn and Tim Sehn as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Grant was predeceased by his father Gordon Hughes, daughter Christine Hughes, step -father Marlin Moore and his in-laws Eligor and Magdelina Sehn, as well as his brothers-in-law George and Conrad Sehn. Grant was born in Moose Jaw, Sask to parents Gordon and Veronica Hughes and grew up in Chaplin, Sask. After attending STI in Moose Jaw he became a journeyman welder and was hired by Sask Minerals. He transferred from Chaplin to Fox Valley in 1966. He married Delia Sehn in 1970. Grant and Delia had three children Clinton (born 1972), Christine (born 1975) and Alison (1979).Grant was an avid sportsman hunting birds and big game. He was forever pursuing the BIG FISH, although Delia was his best catch ever! After 30 years at Sask Minerals, Grant retired and took up carpentry. Grant always had a project on the go and every trip to the city resulted in a new tool to get the job done.Grant spent the last year at Cypress Lodge in Maple Creek, Sask under the loving care of their God sent staff.An evening memorial will be held at the Fox Valley Community Hall on Thursday, July 18 at 7:30 p.m. Sporstmen are encouraged to wear camoflauge. The funeral service will take place Friday, July 19 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Fox Valley. Mass will be officiated by Father Houng Nugyen and Deacon Ernie Sehn. A family interment will follow.
