BERNARD BOLIG

1941 ~ 2013Joseph (Bernard) Bolig, passed away peacefully with family by his side at Sunnyview Care Centre, Medicine Hat on July 24, 2013, at the age of 71 years.  He is survived by his wife, Doris of 53 years; four children and their spouses, Shannon, Felicia, Delsie and Jordan; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild;  four brothers and six sisters as well as numerous nieces and nephews.   Bernard was born on September 10, 1941, in Battleford, SK.  He moved to Bow Island at the age of 17 where he found work on various farms and eventually started work for Petersen &?Yates and later with Royal Sand &?Gravel.  When Bernard moved his family to Medicine Hat, he worked for Smith Trucking until he retired in 2012, residing there until his passing.  He loved helping his family and friends and especially loved being a grandpa to his young grandchildren.  Bernard also enjoyed his early morning walks with his two, four legged companions.  Bernard was predeceased by his parents, Leo &?Bertha Bolig and his youngest sister, Artis Kryzanowski.  Vigil Prayers will be recited at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at 7:00 P.M.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish, 1451 Strachan Road S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Father Philip Le officiating.  A private family interment and gathering will follow.  The family request that memorial donations in Bernard’s name be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, #124, 430 – 6 Avenue S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta  T1A 2S8.  (Condolences may be expressed by visiting www.cooksouthland.com)  Honoured to serve the family is Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, Alberta  T1A 4V4   Phone 403-527-6455.
