1949 ~ SCHENK ~ 2013

Mr. Claude David Schenk of Medicine Hat passed away on Thursday, August 1st, 2013 at the age of 63 years. Claude leaves to cherish his memory his son, Terrance “Terry” (Nicole) Schenk; one granddaughter, Willow Schenk; his mother, Lena Stroh; two aunts, Katherine Wagner and Tillie Schenk; as well as numerous cousins. Claude was predeceased by his father, David Schenk. Claude was born on September 15th, 1949 in Leader, Saskatchewan and grew up and attended school in Mendham. He lived in Calgary for a number of years. It was here while working for Trimac that he was married and his son, Terry was born. Claude was then transferred to Kamloops before the family moved to Nanaimo. Claude lived in Calgary for a few years before coming to Medicine Hat to make this his home. He was a natural athlete who was very involved in sports as a young man. Claude was a humble and honorable man who treasured family and he will be deeply missed. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 1451 Strachan Road SE, on Tuesday, August 6th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Philip Le and Father Martin Moser, co-celebrants. A private family interment will take place in the Roman Catholic Section at Hillside Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Claude’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 102 – 1865 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 1Z8, or to the Holy Family Parish Building Fund, 1451 Strachan Road SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1B 4V3.     I worked at Meadowlands for a number of years as a care giver, and always remember Claude as a very quiet, unassuming man. He was a joy to be around, and always had a great sense of humor. We are so very sorry for your loss. Patty & Kelley McShannock
