(NEE RINKER)
Alice passed away peacefully with family by her side on August 29th, 2013 at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital at the age of 81. Alice was born in Empress, Alberta on January 27th, 1932 and grew up in the Cavendish area. She moved to Medicine Hat to further her education, attending St. Theresa’s Academy. While attending St. Theresa’s, Alice met Ignatius Gyorkos, her future husband. Ignatius and Alice were married in 1950 and spent many happy years together. They raised seven children while running the family business, Gyorkos Cleaners. In 1990, Ignatius passed away; Alice sold the business and moved to her home on Riverside. In 1995, Alice married John Hauck and they lived happily together on Riverside until John’s death in 2007. Alice was a dedicated supporter of the CWL, serving as President and was active on many committees. She also spent many hours volunteering at St. Patrick’s Parish. Alice loved her garden and created a beautiful and peaceful place for many to enjoy. She was happiest when her family was around her, and her home was the centre of many happy gatherings. Alice was a special wife, Mother, Grandmother, and friend. With grace and a quiet strength she always made those around her feel loved and supported. Alice will be missed by her children: Marie (Frank), Michael (Jane), Mark (Dianna), Stephen, Mathew (Sally), Stephanie (David), and Aaron (Lise); and grandchildren: Evan, Sarah, Nathan, Kassia, Landon, and Benjamin. Alice will be lovingly remembered by the Hauck family: sister-in-law, Martha Hauck; and John’s children: Connie (Ken), Eric (Sherry), Carol (Mike), Delores (Marty), Tim (Shirley), and Tom (Deceased) (Cynthia) and their families; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Vigil Rites (prayers) will be said at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Monday, September 2nd, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in ST. PATRICK’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 238 – 2nd Avenue NE, on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Long Vu, celebrant.
