1921 ~ DUCHSCHERER ~ 2014

Mr. Henry Duchscherer, beloved husband of Mrs. Rose Duchscherer of Medicine Hat, passed away on Tuesday, April 15th, 2014 at the age of 92 years. Henry also leaves to cherish his memory his children, Marlene (Joe) Kurtz of Kerrobert, SK., Ron (Marlene) of Prelate, SK, Ivan (Annalisa), Carol (Gary) Kavanaugh and Joann Scory (Tim Eichorn) all of Medicine Hat; eleven grandchildren, Dax Kurtz, Todd Kurtz, Darren Duchscherer, Kevin Duchscherer, Jovan Duchscherer, Aidan Duchscherer, Kali Duchscherer, Angela Smith, Melanie Tegart, Tayler Scory and Cole Scory; two sisters, Katherine Senger and Dorothy Dillman; one brother-in-law, Jack (Verna) Bischoff; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Henry was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Marian; two brothers, Henry in infancy, and Alban (Annie); two sisters, Elizabeth Fitterer and Ann (Tony) Dirk; two brothers-in-law, Gabe Senger and Mike Dillman; as well as Rose’s six sisters and one brother and their spouses. Henry was born in Prelate, Saskatchewan on December 4th, 1921 and received his education in Dirksburg and Portreeve Schools. He married Rose Bischoff on November 20th, 1946 in Prelate. Henry took over his parents farm prior to his marriage and this is where they made their home. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree, served on Prelate Town Council, Prelate Hall Committee, Prelate School Board, and on the Credit Union Board. Henry and Rose retired to Prelate in 1976 and later to Medicine Hat in August of 1990. Both Henry and Rose were members of St. Mary’s Church and then Holy Family Parish. Henry was very active in his community between serving on numerous local boards as well as volunteering. He was a kind, gentle man whose family was everything to him. He will be deeply missed by all those who had the good fortune of knowing him. Vigil Rites (prayers) will be said at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE on Monday, April 21st, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 1451 Strachan Road SE, on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Philip Le, celebrant. A Private Interment will follow in the Roman Catholic Section at Hillside Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Henry’s memory may be made to the Riverview Care Centre, 603 Prospect Drive SW, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 4C2.
