Ruby Edna Mae Engler, beloved wife of Joseph Engler of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, May 4th, 2014 at the age of 79 years. Ruby also leaves to cherish her memory four children, Cheryl Engler, Kurtis (Kathy) Engler, Natalie Engler, and Rommel (Nancy) Engler; seven grandchildren, Kim (Tim) Somerville, Kyle Engler (Tegan Mitri), Matthew, Steven, and Denise Telford, Magnus and Yelena Engler; two brothers, Bill Dickson and Russ (Shirley) Dickson; two sisters, Joy Noonan and Jean Mallen; one sister-in-law, Bev (Tony) Elizardo; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ruby was predeceased by her parents, Elmer and Margaret Dickson; three brothers-in-law, Jim Noonan, John Mallen and Bill Engler; and two sisters-in-law, Helen Dickson and Roseann (Fred) Alm.
Ruby was a loving mother, grandmother and wife.  She was happily married to Gordon for 59 years.  Together they had 4 children: Cheryl, Kurtis (Kathy), Natalie and Rommel (Nancy). Her grandchildren are Kim (Tim), Kyle (fiancé Tegan), Matthew, Steven, Denise, Magnus and Yelena.
Ruby was raised in the Toronto area.  She had two sisters, Jean and Joy and two brothers, Russ and Bill.  She began a career as a payroll clerk where she met Gordon. They lived in several communities and settled in Medicine Hat where they have lived for several years.
Ruby had many interests and was very artistic.  She created many gems that her family cherishes today.  She sewed, knitted, painted, did copper tooling, and made figurines with ceramics, dough and glass.  She made blankets, quilts, throws and had her own knitting machine. Ruby was also an avid gardener. She co-founded the Medicine Hat Genealogy society in 1978 and assisted many in their family searches.
Ruby was also a member of the CWL and volunteered at the church.  She was an exceptional listener, and was very understanding, generous and forgiving. Ruby loved to laugh, loved her family and would often cheer us up. She was generous at heart and all of us will miss her so much.
God has gifted us with our Angel Ruby and we graciously surrender our Angel to God\’s loving hands.
