1955 – 2014
It is with great sadness that we lost our dear sister and daughter on this cloudy Friday, May 16th, 2014. Karen was born in Outlook, Saskatchewan and was one of nine adopted children to Wes and Helen McLellan. Karen is survived by her mother, Helen; sisters, Heather McLellan, Jo-Anne (Lain) Babcook, and Elaine McLellan; brothers, Kelly McLellan, Tim McLellan and Bruce (Michelle) McLellan; six nieces and nephews, Trystin McLellan (fiancé Darien), Raeann McLellan, Michael Babcook, Chelsea Babcook, and Alana and Brooke McLellan. Karen was predeceased by her father, Wes; and her brothers, Daryl and Kevin.
Karen’s favorite pastimes were collecting unique jewelry pieces and adoring animals of all kinds. Through the years she worked at various jobs but her favorite was working at St. Joseph’s Home in Medicine Hat. There she found friendship and love from the residents and the Carmelite Sisters.
Her family would like to express their deepest thanks to Home Care, We Care, Carmelite Sisters of St. Joseph’s Home, and the ICU team at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. The Funeral Service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Friday, May 23rd, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with Deacon Terry Olson officiating. A Private Interment will take place at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Karen’s memory may be made to the SPCA, 55 Southwest Drive SW, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 8E8, or to the Alberta Lung Association, PO Box 4700 Station South, Edmonton, Alberta, T6E 9Z9.
