1960 ~ WARD ~ 2014

Posted: June 3rd, 2014

Toni Ellen Ward of Medicine Hat, passed away peacefully at the Carmel Hospice, St. Joseph\’s Home on Sunday, June 1st, 2014 at the age of 54 years. Toni suffered a stroke and was diagnosed with brain cancer on March 1st, 2013. She accepted the diagnosis of cancer with courage, grace and dignity and was more worried about the impact her disease would have on the two most important people in her life than on herself. After working in the accounting field for many years, Toni started her own very successful bookkeeping business. Toni loved to garden and her flowers were the envy of the neighborhood. She designed and crocheted items for her friends and her two favorite charities. The stroke made doing all these things impossible so with her best friend, Lyn, she traveled to Banff, Calgary and Canmore for mini holidays and discovered a new hobby, baking cookies! Quoted from Toni, \”I have been blessed with many things: my daughter, Hailey, my best friend, Lyn, who has stood by me and guided me through my illness, and for the many kindnesses shown to me by my awesome friends.\” Toni lived her life with passion and compassion, humor and style, generosity and kindness. At Toni\’s request, there will not be a formal funeral service. As an expression of sympathy, those wishing may make a donation to The Phoenix Safe House, Box 2500, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 8G8, or to the SPCA, 55 Southwest Drive SW, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 8E8, or to Carmel Hospice St. Joseph\’s Home, 156 – 3rd Street NE, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 5M1. Condolences may be sent through www.saamis.com or to condolences@saamis.com subject heading Toni Ward. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM & RECEPTION CENTRE, \”The Chapel in the Park\”, locally owned and directed. Thinking of you all at this time, Hailey, Lyn, and family.
I will miss Toni. Her sense of humor never faltered. She made me smile.
I will never forget her coming in with her tins of cookies at Christmas, I’m sure we bartered some Pasta Chuta for them.

Leave a Condolence for Shirley
