Laurel Francis Wickwire beloved husband of Vivian Wickwire (nee Brown) of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the age of 88 years.
Laurel was born on April 19, 1926 on the farm at Darmody, SK. Laurel spent his younger years in northern Saskatchewan on his parents’ farm. At the tender age of fourteen, Laurel set out on his own. He worked in mills, tied steel, drove logging trucks, as well as working in the Blue Bell Mine. He went on to purchase his own land and he and Vivian became farmers. Laurel and Vivian were married September 20, 1950. They retired to Medicine Hat in 2004, where they spent seven years before moving to Calgary.
Laurel passed at the same time as his oldest son Laurie.
Laurel is survived by his loving wife Vivian; daughters Barb and Bev (Roger); daughter-in-law Ceci; grandchildren, Cecilia Colunga, Stephanie, Kelly (Rick), Jamie (Hailey), Tammy (Mike), Lisa (Ramon), Myles, Bryce, Dustin (Shevaughn) and Andrea (Andrew); and great-grandchildren, Quinton, Keira, Cohen, Finn, Lincoln, Autumn and Lola; as well numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his brother Milford; his parents Clifton and Marjorie; his youngest son Gregory; his sister Lucielle; and daughter-in-law Doris.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.
