1928 ~ ADAM ~ 2014

Clifford E. Adam passed away on Thursday, July 10th, 2014 at the age of 85, just 21 days shortof his 86th birthday. Clif leaves to mourn his loss his wife of 60 years, Pauline Adam (nee Kirschenmann); two daughters, Valerie Gladu (Dale MacGillivray) and Lynn Hertz (Wayne); two grandchildren, Jason Gladu (Misty) and Brittany Hertz; three great-grandchildren, Zac, Gabi and Lily Gladu; numerous nieces and nephews and their families;and Pauline\’s family. A dedicated and loving family man, Clif was very proud of his family and loved to share stories of their accomplishments and exploits. Clifwas born in Medicine Hat on July 31st, 1928 to parents Katharina and Gottlieb Adam. He was the youngest of the three sons and was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Alvin and Ted. Clifwas raised on a farm in the Schuler district just across the border in Saskatchewan, attended school in Medicine Hat and graduated from Alexandra High School. He started an apprenticeship in Jewellery for Art Finch Jewellersin 1948. Clifwent to Ryerson Institute in Toronto training in Horology (watchmaking) graduating in 1952 as a certified watchmaker. He worked for the Elgin Watch Company until an opportunity arose to purchase a small shop in Medicine Hat. He married Pauline Kirschenmann and started a 60-year journey that is C E Adam Jeweller. Clifwas dedicated to his family, his friends, his business and his community. Long work hours never deterred him from attending his family\’s functions. As a long-time Tiger supporter and hockey fan, he never missed an opportunity to attend Jason and Zac\’s hockey practices and games. He also took great pride in his yard, flowers and especially his tomatoes. Clif served his community as a member of the Jaycees, Alderman from 1958 through 1966, Chairman of the Public Works Committee, on the Board of the Auxiliary Hospital, Chairman of the Cypress View Foundation, served as the Police Commissioner and on the Council at St. Peter Lutheran Church. He and his big laugh will be missed by family and friends. If you listen, you can still hear it. PETER LUTHERAN CHURCH, 758 – 8th Street SE, on Monday, July 14th, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Julianna Wehrfritz-Hanson officiating. A Private Interment will follow in the Family Plot at Hillside Cemetery.
