Christina Stimson of Brooks, beloved wife of the late George Stimson, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Sunrise Gardens, Brooks, on Friday, November 28th, 2014 at the age of 89 years. She was born in Gradiska, Yugoslavia on August 14th, 1925 the youngest of eight girls, to Wilhelm and Elizabeth Schmidt. At the age of two, she travelled with her family to Montreal and later to Manyberries, Alberta, where she attended school and helped on the farm. She married George Stimson on October 25th, 1947 and they took over her parent’s farm and were blessed with six children. Christina and George moved their family to the Brooks area in 1964, where they continued to farm and ranch. She retired to Brooks in 1996, to be closer to family and friends. Christina enjoyed her huge garden, flowers and working in her yard and her baking and cooking were second to none. The door was always open to neighbors and a bed waiting for a niece or nephew who needed a temporary home for a month or two, or more. Christina also took pleasure in quilting and singing with the Lutheran Ladies Group at the Lodge, Orchard Manor, and Sunrise Gardens. After raising her family, her grandchildren became her greatest passion. She cherished each and every one of them and enjoyed watching them grow and loved being a special part of their lives. Christina moved into the Newbrook Lodge and later to Sunrise Gardens. She was predeceased by her husband George, daughter Judy and all of her sisters. Christina is survived by her children, Dale (Tess) Stimson, Jim (Jodi) Stimson, Pat (Brad) Rooke, Sue Opperman (Terry) and Rick (Brenda) Stimson and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
