1941 ~ LOUGHREN ~ 2015

Gwendolyn \”Gwen\” Loughren of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Les Loughren, passed away on Wednesday, January 7th, 2015 at the age of 73 years. Gwen leaves to cherish her memory her one son, Larry (Rhonda) of Lampman, Saskatchewan; two daughters, Deanna Loughren and Melinda Gale, both of Medicine Hat; eight grandchildren, Mandy (Alex) Nogue, Corelie (Chey) Craik, Venesa Loughren, Cara Loughren, Leslie (Brian) Boutkan, Dexter Stangland, Cody (Shanna Yu) Stangland and Dakota (Mike Tadjdeh) Stangland; nine great grandchildren, Dustin, Makenna and Cabri Nogue, Carter and Taylor Craik, Chloe and Jaxon Stangland, Blakely Tadjdeh and Annabella Ng. Gwen was predeceased by her husband, Leslie \”Les\” Loughren; her parents, Ronald and Mabel Paton; one grandson, Landon Loughren; and one sister, Marcia Knelsen. Gwen was born on May 18th, 1941 and was raised in the Hazenmore District. Following graduation she worked as a telephone operator in Pontiex, Saskatchewan. On November 25th, 1960 she married Les Loughren and together they raised their three children in the McCord District. In 1993, they retired and moved to Medicine Hat where they continued to make their home. Gwen had many gifts. Among them was her ability to market various health products and reach outstanding achievements including trips, awards and most importantly friendships. Family was her main focus in life. She encouraged each of her children to follow their dreams and fulfill their potential. She really valued any time family got together, especially visits from grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gwen was well known for her family gatherings, best pie crust and cinnamon buns, competitive card playing and watching curling. She enjoyed family camping trips and long distance traveling. For the past 5 years Gwen enjoyed nurturing her family and guiding them through the chapters of their lives. Gwen will be remembered as a kind, loving, honest and nurturing woman. Her door was always open and she was always ready to listen. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her. Gwen\’s motto was \”you must like it or you\’d change it\”–and it motivated us all! The Funeral Service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE, on Saturday, January 10th, 2015 at 3:30 p.m. with Pastor Bob Findley officiating. An interment will take place at McCord, Saskatchewan at a later date. Memorial gifts in Gwen\’s memory may be made to St. Joseph\’s Home (Carmel Hospice), 156 – 3rd Street NE, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 5M1.     We were so very sorry to hear the news of your Mom’s passing, The loss of your parents is one of life’s greatest challenges and biggest hurts. Plus there is just something special between Mom’s and their son’s . . .
