Mrs. Helen Roth beloved wife of the late Mr. Tom Roth, passed away at the Bow Island Health Centre, on Monday, January 19, 2015, at the age of 96 years.  Helen will be forever remembered in the hearts of her children: Bev (Tony) Hammel, Deanne (Carl) Torgerson, Don, Marilyn (Chris) Schwab and Debbie (Gary) Meger.  Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren: Jeff, Pat, Kevin (Candrin) Hammel; Darren, Chrissy (Sean), Daniel (Willow) Torgerson;  Jasmine (Carey), Kelsey (Andreas), Jonathan Roth; Jason (Irlanda), Michelle Schwab; Angie (Richard), Ryan Meger as well as her great-grandchildren: Jordan (Tasha), Tyler, Shazia, Kabria, Kaia, Keston, Kolter, Kealey Hammel; Brittany, Jordyn, Greyson, Keegan, Rowan, Ivy Torgerson; Emelio, Ethan Schwab; Declan, Miranda Meger and her great-great-grandson, Sawyer Hammel.  Helen was predeceased by her husband, Tom; beloved granddaughter, Rhonda; parents, Philip and Ottilia Gross and her seven siblings.  Helen was born on September 28, 1918, in Grassy Lake, AB., where she was raised and educated.  She married her loving husband, Tom, on November 23, 1942.  In 1961, she started working at the Pleasant View Lodge in Bow Island and continued working there until her retirement at the age of 75 years.  Bowling was her passion and continued to be her passion until she was 93.  Helen loved to crochet and sew, and could make anything by just looking at a picture.  She loved her church and was a devote, lifetime member of the CWL.  Helen’s commitment to her faith and health was combined by praying the rosery while riding her exercise bike for thirty minutes every day.  Her joy was her family, her home and her flowers.  Helen’s strength and commitment to life and her fighting spirit gave her the independence to live in her home until she was 95 years old.  Helen’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.  Those wishing to pay their respects may do so one hour prior to the Vigil Prayers at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1101 – 1 Street East, Bow Island, AB., on Thursday evening, January 22, 2015, at 7:00 p.m.   The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Friday, January 23, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Father John L. Maes celebrant.  Interment will follow in the Bow Island Cemetery, with a time of fellowship thereafter in the Bow Island Golden Age Club.
