Barbara Ellen Burton of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, March 4th, 2015 at the age of 76. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory her brother, James (Doreen) Burton; as well as seven nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, James and Florence Burton; and two brothers, David and Robert Burton. Barbara had fond memories of her growing up years on the farm at Tilley and received her education in Renfrew and Tilley. Barbara was very intelligent and loved learning. She became a teacher and taught in Rolling Hills, Duchess, Taber and Medicine Hat. Through her kind, patient and loving nature she was able to positively influence many students. Her interests were varied and included travel, reading, painting, guitar, piano, singing and knitting. After retirement she helped many people through her love of natural medicine with Reiki and Health Kinesiology. Barbara loved and cherished her family and her love for and extensive work in genealogy will be a legacy for them. After her brother’s death, the nurturing of his son, Aaron, became a very important part of her life. Barbara had a wonderful way with people and many called her friend. The Funeral Service will be held at CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, 7 Sierra Boulevard SW, on Friday, March 6th, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. with Bishop J. Mulholland presiding. A Private Interment will take place at Brooks Cemetery. Memorial gifts in Barbara\’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 102 – 1865 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 1Z8.
