NORMAN W. MEYER
June 25th, 1945 ~ March 6th, 2015

It is with deep sadness the family of Norman W. Meyer announces his passing on Friday, March 6th, 2015 at the age of 69 years, with his wife Virginia by his side. Norm was born in Lethbridge, Alberta and raised by his loving parents Ernst and Ela Meyer in Taber, Alberta. While attending Brigham Young University in Provo Utah, Norman attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and met the love of his life, Virginia Lindberg. They were married for 45 years and were blessed with four children Todd, Cindi, Andrea and Anthony. He also attended Gonzaga University while pursuing his Master’s Degree. Norman had a passion for hunting, the great outdoors, and his seven grandsons, Denham, Tristan, Ethan, Caden, Dylan, Tate and Kingston. His occupation included social work with Alberta Social Services in St. Paul, Calgary, and Medicine Hat, Alberta. Norman then proceeded to work in the Psychology Department with Medicine Hat School Division 76. He later developed a love for building homes. Above all, he had a big heart and took on the cares of the world. He enjoyed comradery with friends, complimenting others, lifting spirits, and helping others in need. Norman is survived by his wife, Virginia Meyer and their children, Todd Meyer, Cindi (Troy) Gedlaman, Andrea (Dean) Blahut, and Anthony Meyer; his sisters, Carol Birch, Brenda (Lavar) Hult; brother, Fred Meyer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Norman is predeceased by his parents, Ernst and Ela Meyer; brother, Ernest Meyer; and brother-in-law, Garnet Birch. The Funeral Service will be held at the CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS, 1865 Division Avenue NE, on Saturday, March 14th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Mike McClung officiating. Memorial gifts in Norman’s memory may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, 204 – 1865 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 1Z8.     I hadn’t heard until today that norm had passed away. Even after so long away from Medicine Hat, I remember him so well, and am saddened by his passing. Our thoughts are with you.
