1954 ~ 2015
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Kenneth (Kenny) Charles Graves announce his passing in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at the age of 61 years. Kenny was born on January 3, 1954, in Empress, AB., moving to Medicine Hat with his parents in 1955. His journey with the Medicine Hat and District Association for Clients Ongoing Rehabilitation and Equality (CORE), began at 5 years of age. Following a number of years at the Michener Centre in Red Deer, AB., Kenny returned to Medicine Hat where he thrived being near his family, friends and the caring staff of the group homes. He enjoyed participating in functions and activities sponsored by the CORE Association and by the group homes. The family is grateful to the Christian Reformed Church who initiated the Friendship Group especially for the mentally handicapped for spiritual sharing. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, family, friends and those whose lives where enhanced by everyone Kenny enjoyed being associated with. Left to treasure Kenny’s memory are his beloved parents, Doris and Bill Graves; sister, Janice (David) Cottrell; niece, Janelle; nephew, Thomas and many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Harry and Louisa Graves and John and Dorothy Martin. Kenny liked bright colors and in reflection of this, the family would appreciate everyone attending to dress in bright, colorful, casual clothing. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the celebration of Kenny’s life which will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, May 1, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Steve Pahl officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery with a time of fellowship and refreshments thereafter in the Cook Southland Reception Facility. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to CORE Association, 412 – 3 Street S.E., Medicine Hat, AB., T1A 0H1.
