Schaan obit
Mr. Fred Schaan, beloved husband of Marlene Schaan, passed away peacefully while surrounded with love by his family at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at the age of 80 years. Fred was born June 12, 1935 in Zelma, Saskatchewan, an identical twin brother to Andy. Fred moved with his family to various communities throughout the western provinces before finally settling in Medicine Hat. In June of 2013, he married his longtime sweetheart, Marlene and their relationship continued to flourish. Fred owned and operated a charter business and enjoyed life behind the wheel. He was a man deeply connected to his family and devoted to his faith as a member of Holy Family Parish. Fred enjoyed going to the mall for coffee, travelling and watching hockey as he was an avid Tigers fan. He was a unique man with a wonderful sense of humor and quick wit and will be dearly missed. Fred was family oriented and was loved by his family as much as he loved them. Besides his wife Marlene, he is survived by his children, Tammy Carriere, Dale Schaan, Kevin Schaan and Lanny Whiteford; Marlene’s children, Jason (Stacey) Daffy and Jeremy Daffy; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Annie and Margie and twin brother, Andy as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Christian and Lillian Schaan and step-father, Anthony Schaan; 3 brothers, 5 sisters and a son-in-law, Perry Whiteford.
