John Edward Arthur Witts, beloved husband of Eileen Witts of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, October 12th, 2015 at the age of 68 years. John also leaves to cherish his memory four children, Sheldon (Lenora) Witts, Jason Witts, Katherine Witts, and Quentin Witts; nine grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; one brother, Jim (Lila) Witts; three sisters, Janet Renschler, Joyce (Neil) Simpson, and Jean (Steph) Choja; three brothers-in-law, Garnet Renschler, Wayne (Mary) Ulbricht, and Victor (Lori) Ulbricht; four sisters-in-law, Brenda Siegers, Sheila (Ron) Papove, Rita (Ken) Ireland, and Lana (Richard) Miller; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog and beloved companion, Bailey. John was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Verna Witts; Eileen’s parents, Jack and Lydia Ulbricht; one sister, Joan Renschler; two brothers-in-law, Doug Renschler and Bert Siegers; one niece, Janine Siegers; one nephew, Shawn Whitney; and one great-grandson, Zane Widmer. In his younger years, John was a Life Guard at Elkwater and Heald Pool in Riverside. In 1965, he married his high school sweetheart, Eileen, and they recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. He loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed camping, fishing, being on the boat with his grandkids, as well as playing golf with friends Bill, Paul, and Jim. He was also an avid runner for many years. John and Eileen loved travelling together and, in later years, spending their winters in Yuma, Arizona. John made many friends and “work buddies” over the 35 years he worked for Canadian Fertilizers, a job he truly enjoyed. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends. The Funeral Service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Friday, October 16th, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Shane Andrus officiating. A Private Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery. Memorial gifts in John’s memory may be made to the Margery E.
