John was a great leader and a role model to all who knew him. He always told us “Honesty and Communication” was the key to success. He accepted The Lord’s Will with strength and grace, who was his dearest and nearest friend. John had numerous jobs but the most fulfilling was being financial manager for 41 years.

For as long as we remember,

Dad was always there.

He showed us how to live and love,

And showed us how to care.

His family looked up to him,

We listened without fear.

We trusted Dad’s wise advice,

His love for us was clear.

He taught us to respect ourselves,

He lived the words he taught,

Forever an inspiration.

His eyes were filled with love and pride.

Even when our choice was wrong,

He stood right by our side.

If we could sit and chat once more;

We would probably say to you

“Dad, thanks for all the many years,

and special times we had.”

We will always love you Dad.

  1. Owen Cleland says:

Mike and all your family, and all the members of the Elkwater Colony. I only met John a couple of times a year but was always impressed by his calm, down to earth demeanor, and he was always very friendly to me. I know he was a big part of your community at the colony and will be missed. I would like to offer my condolences to all your family and friends and loving, lasting memories of John.
